The Associated Press reports that Federal officials rounded up 370 illegals over a 3 day period.  Using the latest Department of Homeland Security estimate of the 10,900,000 illegals in the country at this time it will take only 235 years to complete the round up if this torrid law enforcement pace can be sustained. 

CHICAGO — Federal officials in Chicago say they’ve arrested 370 immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally or were convicted of other crimes.

They say the arrests were made over three days in 10 states. Those arrested fall into three groups: legal immigrants with convictions that make them eligible for deportation, illegal immigrants who have been convicted of other crimes, and immigration fugitives, who are wanted just for being in the U.S. illegally.

In a news release Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says some of the people arrested included gang members and sex offenders.

The operation ended Thursday. Arrests were made in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio.

This estimate of the projected round up completion is based on the following assumptions:

• No additional illegal aliens will enter the country in the future
• 370 illegals rounded up every days 3 days (122 roundups per year at 370 per round up = 45,017 per year – 10,900,000 divided by 45,017 per year = 235 years)

Note: The torrid pace of 370 every three days may not be sustainable.  As the illegal alien population ages and they begin to die off the full cooperation of the mortuary industry to assist in locating the bodies of deceased illegal aliens will be a critical factor in determining whether or not the roundup rate can be sustained over a 235 year period.
