There are several reasons for starting this blog, listed below in no particular order for now:
- Participate in the national conversation about where our country is headed versus where I believe it should be headed; following the intent and principles as set forth by the Founding Fathers for starters… liberty’s true compass. That conversation includes the 10th Amendment and what responsibilities should be restored to the purview of individual states. From that flows the conversation within each individual state (in my case Pennsylvania) about what we expect of the state and what responsibilities will be assumed (reassumed) by the citizens of each state.
- Follow Milton Friedman’s advice to those who love liberty and want to see its cause thrive -
“… the best thing that people can do who want to promote the free market is to talk about the free market, to think about the free market, to write about the free market and to get into arguments.” Russ Roberts – Milton Friedman, “An Interview with Milton Friedman.” September 4, 2006. Library of Economics and Liberty.
- Write about things I know about and care about – free market principles, how to recognize broken processes and things that can be done to make them better, an American energy renaissance, and moving the role of Government back in the direction of the principles and intent as set forth by the Founders (yes, Virginia, [1] the concepts and intent as set forth by the Founders and the Constitution is as relevant today as it was then and [2] the Constitution is not a living document to be interpreted at the whim of whichever shallow and self serving politician happens to be trying to maneuver the issue of the day in a direction of his or her choosing).
- There’s a book in me and it’s stuck in neutral so I need to get it moving again.
More about Our Founder’s Compass Blogger in Chief (& editor, researcher, Web dude, graphics geek, clean up crew, and whatever else needs to be done):

- 4 years enlisted service US Navy – helicopter carrier (USS TRIPOLI LPH-10) – Engineering Department – Electrician’s Mate – 19 months deployed to the Western Pacific – Viet Nam (just a guess but I believe I probably know more about generating electrical power and have actually made more electricity than all of the politicians in Washington DC who are trying to tell us what the energy policies of the US should be – wind, solar, and waves for example make for interesting science experiments but those are examples of shaky, unproven technology that won’t come close to scaling up to an output that can make a difference and they can’t stand on their own in the market place – wishing they would or could won’t make it so.
- 18 years commissioned service US Navy – Supply Corps – Qualified in Submarines (USS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SSBN 640 GOLD) – heck I even know a little something about nuclear power
